Notes: As usual during a tea break in a studio myself and Sam Jones we were using, we jammed around on the grand piano in the live room. In fact, think I was playing along on the drums really badly and started singing part of the chorus when he came up with the piano hook. I shouted some garbled message to “keep playing those two bars bruh!” and scrambled into the control room to press record. | Subject matter, def a case of was art reflecting life; it was one of those times when it all goes a little…well, y’know. Anyway it was a topic to which everyone could relate. | Collaborations. The Corinne link came quite naturally, she was round for a cuppa listening to the album demos and took to the track (later when Corinne did a few takes and tentatively asked “if that take was alright”, it took me a while to answer because I couldn’t stop smiling. | After listening to Soweto’s ridiculous second album I was determined to get him on the album but he proved a little more difficult to get a hold of. In the end I gatecrashed a radio interview on local radio to track him down. Worth every second (for those sax harmonies alone). The sax solo used was the first take. Corinne was a regular guest with the band before her record deal.
